The Haven from Sailor's Home is a single pot still Irish whiskey, made with malted and unmalted Irish barley and oats, which has matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry casks and bourbon casks. Creamy and softly sweet, with a good helping of classic single pot still spiciness sneaking through too.
Croissants, buttered bread, sultanas and ginger.
Black pepper, nectarine, chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon and dry oak.
Just a hint of orange peel and honey lasts.
This was a great find. As a Scotch drinker, I’ve tried many pot still Irish whiskeys, particularly Sherry cask finishes to broaden my horizons. This was a superb drop, lots of apple and red fruit, amazing texture and long finish. Subtle spice right on the end.
Bought this on a whim, the bottle looked interesting, as did the contents! I'm not one with a sufficiently developed palate to be able to pick out all of the different nuances and flavours. The only thing I can say is, it tastes great, sits well, I enjoy it and I'm so glad I made the purchase! I hope I have many more whims! ?

Big fan of the Irish single pots like Red Breast and Green Spot. Gave this a try, wasn't for me, far too sweet.
