Sagamore Spirit's Straight Rye Whiskey combines two straight rye mash bills, aged between four and six years in heavily charred American oak barrels. The first mash bill is a high rye, bringing warming, spiced notes of cinnamon and clove, while the second is a low rye, offering up layers of caramel, honey, and citrus peel. The distillery proofs its whiskey with its own limestone-filtered water from its spring house, built in 1909. This is a superb example of Maryland's sweeter rye style, ideal for laid-back sipping and equally good in cocktails.
Milky coffee and honeyed grains join cinnamon, oak char, and a touch of pepper.
Green apples, dates, and candied citrus, with burnt brown sugar and spiced honey.
Mellow oak, gentle baking spice warmth, sweet fruit, and butterscotch.
