I collect and drink whiskey , I have bought all three 21 year old Royal salute, I bought one sapphire to drink , as a 21 year old blend with a hefty price tag, it pales in comparison to no age statement gold label johnnie walker £40 , and In the rough price bracket no age statement blue label johnnie walks walks all over this , the taste isn't a gift from the gods but the bottles are beautiful in their velvety pouches and ceramic coloured bottles , even black label £20 per 70cl beats the taste on this for richness and smootheness on a blend

I have a bottle of Royal Salute in a blue velvet bag, I'd like to sell. What would be a fair price in NYC? I have had it for approximately 25 years.

For a 21 y/o blend this is super harsh.Has a light nose of absinthe which i find repulsive. This is for MIXED DRINKS at best.(this is an insult)

I just bought a bottle of this today and just had a dram, MASSIVE disappointment. It honestly tastes like chivas 12 with a tiny bit more body and flavor, NOT WORTH THE MONEY.Now I just compared it to jonnie walker black, just had some. Johnnie walker black has way more body and flavor compared to this. At 1/3 the price and I feel is a better blend. What I'm trying to say is this, without the fancy packaging, if they charged $40 for the royal salute it would be decent because that's how much I feel its worth, but for over $100 this is a COMPLETE rip off.

I was given a bottle of this fine blended whisky for my 60th birthday. Normally I have blends with lemonade or use them, for medicinal purposes, in hot toddies but this is definitely worth savouring on its own. It would be interesting to learn which malts Chivas have combined for this excellent "swally". I might even purchase another bottle (in a different colour) when this is finished!

.....had this bought for me as a gift. I was for years a Slcottish only whisky snob. After opening my mind to the world of Japanese malts this guard dropped. My last snobbish attitude was towards blended whisky. How wrong could I be? This stuff really is the whisky of dreams, I don't think i have ever sampled a whisky so smooth, drinkable.....yet rich & complex. You even get a blue velvet bag should the need participate in the FA Cup ever occur. Quite simply amazing.

What can be said that hasn't been so eloquently expressed below...? Buy it, try it, savour it and fall in love with it. Seriously, you will not find a better scotch whisky anywhere!

No, I can't determine any "stewed fruits", chocolate, or any of the other imaginaries that the tuxedo tasters detect. But I have enjoyed tasting many fine scotch whiskies thus-far in my journey. Glenlivet 18, Johnnie Walker Blue, Green, and Platinum. (I even liked the OLD JW "Gold" until they stopped making it). Personally, I like a bit of smoke - so Lagavulin 16 was my brand for a while. So many single malts, I really can't remember them - which is sad, because there are some "greats" out there that deserve mentioning. Now I can go buy Johnnie Walker "Blue" (if I save up) right now for about $200 a bottle (750ml). BUT - This stuff (Chivas Royal Salute 21 yr old) tops them all! I mean it folks - I'm not a snob. And it IS expensive! But it is the absolute finest scotch whisky I have yet to taste. The color, the nose, the perfect smoke, the total flavor and finish - THIS is IT! Now taste is an individual preference, obviously - so if you don't agree that's your right and I respect both it AND you. There are many good scotch whiskies and it is nice to try them all. But to this day, with my God-given senses - Royal Salute 21 is unbeaten by all others that I have drank. I only wish it was easier to find at my location, (Maryland USA) AND of course - for LESS MONEY! But regardless of that - I am convinced by my own experience. It is honestly the best scotch and I salute Chivas for producing it.

This was my introduction bottle to Chivas and made me purchase the Chivas Regal 25 which became a staple bottle on my shelf. Definitely one of my favorite 21 year olds which is entirely smooth and enjoyable to drink. Smells wonderful in your glass and makes you appreciate the work that went into this blend which was placed inside this beautiful bottle once held in your hands. Put your hand to your hairline and salute.

Simply THE BEST blend of them all. Smooth, sweet, lovely, easy to smash the whole bottle back.

Can't say I can taste dirt or smell sea air, but I do enjoy the taste, and I don't need to blather on about honey and peat.

Bought this for a special occasion to share with family. We're not serious scotch drinkers by any stretch of the imagination, but we all relaxed immediately after the pour. Our conversation turned to how how smooth and pleasant this scotch was, and how much we enjoyed it. While the initial intent was to have one celebratory drink and put it away for a later occasion, we couldn't resist a second pour. We all thought the nose was sweet with hints of floral and honey, and the experience was smooth from start to finish. It lasted a good long time on the palette, as well. A MUCH better experience than what I had with a previous bottle of Johnny Walker Blue.

Was given the opportunity to try this at some scottish friend's house. It was a retirement present for the wife's father. They must have thought a lot of him because it took me completely by surprise. Beautiful balanced, lovely sweet with orange and peach. With a smoothness I have never experienced from any other malt whisky blended or single. In a word fabulous, the trouble is I don't want to go back to drinking "ordinary" malts after that.
VERY SMOOTH RICH TASTE - NOT TOO PEATY - ONE OF THE BEST
