Roe & Co Irish Whiskey Bottling Note

Released in March 2017, Roe & Co blended Irish whiskey marks Diageo's return to the Irish whiskey category having sold Bushmills a couple of years earlier. Roe & Co is bottled at 45% abv without chill filtration and is a blend of single malt and grain whiskeys matured exclusively in bourbon casks (a high proportion of which are first-fill).

Tasting Note by The Producer

Nose: Creamy, delightfully fragrant and remarkably rounded with notes of soft spice and mellow spun sugar along with warm hints of woody vanilla.

Palate: The quality and perfect balance of the blend is immediately apparent on the palate through its velvety texture and sweet flavours including spiced pears and vanilla.

Finish: Lingering and gentle, ending with a light creaminess.

Roe & Co Irish Whiskey Reviews

Excellent and very drinkable

We love this!! It’s become a firm favourite with my husband and I. We’ve always loved a single malt but since trying this two years ago have moved to bourbon. Tastes change like people and change in this case is good!!

Overpriced for the quality

Good whiskey but overpriced compared to others. I'll give it 2.5 stars because of the flavor but would have been 4 if it was properly priced. This is along the lines of a young whiskey. Let it sit in a barrel for 12 years and then price it accordingly. I won't be buying it again unless it was $20 cheaper

7th September 2019

Too sweet

Maybe just not my preference but I find this whiskey far too sweet, almost syrupy. Was excited to try based on some of the glowing reviews but I think i’ll echo others who have said for the price there are plenty of better tasting whiskeys out there. Save your money.

Sweet End Note!

I thought I had landed as a Teeling drinker, but Roe & Co compares really well! In fact, I thought it had a bit more complexity than standard Teeling, with a cool, slightly sweet note at the end. I'll be back!

7.5/10

Somewhere far north of Jameson and a little north of Powers.

Smoothest whiskey I found. Please import to California ASAP!

I discovered this in Westport Ireland. Brought two bottles home to California but can’t find any more in the states. This is amazing whiskey and I can’t wait till I can buy it here. Nice and smooth with lots of flavor!

Fantastic

Excellent tipple, smooth could easily be mistaken for a whiskey 3 times the price try it you will not be disappointed

30th May 2019

Fantastic blend

Bought my first bottle last week. Going to buy my second bottle this week. First off the bottle itself is what caught my eye and I’m glad it did because this is very good whiskey. Consistent with spicy pear and that woody vanilla with a very pleasant creamy finish. This whiskey is only going to get better.

Great in a mixer, straight and even put a shot in some whipped cream for a apple pie

Just spent New Years in Dublin, tried this for the first time, outstanding, excellent taste, brought a bottle back to the states, they will love this stuff over the pond when you export

Good whiskey.. Bushmills Black Bush still number 1 in this price range

A very nice whiskey. However Bushmills Black Bush is superior in every way... I will give this a few more years to age and try it again... I think then it will be a really, really nice whiskey.

Whiskeylicious

First taste and purchase on Tuesday
Very nice indeed

8th December 2018

Its good

I really liked this after thinking I wouldn't. Feels heavier than other blends I've tried which feel thin and don't have as much flavour. Would buy again as it's nice.

17th September 2018

Easy going blend.

This is a great sipping whiskey without having to think to much about the liquid. Not overly complex but there is a lovely pear note from the nose to the finish which evolves and changes and I will buy it again just for that. At this price you can't go wrong.

28th August 2018

Not great

Compared to other whiskey in this price range, I find that this does little to stand out. A bottle of black bush is far better

30th July 2018

Top shelf

Top class whiskey

21st July 2018

Superior

Very awesome, smooth, many spicy notes, my new favorite.

8th June 2018

Smells of Vodka, tastes of nothing in particular.

Was bought this as an Xmas gift, being new to whiskey I'm still learning, especially about what I like and don't. I've been lucky enough to try some amazing whiskey, just last night, by chance, I tried Midleton Very Rare 2016, wow! My go to whisky is Dalmore 15, I also like some full on peat Laphroaig now and again. This for me just didn't smell or taste like whiskey, looking at other reviews I wonder if I had an odd batch. It smelled of alcohol, almost like smelling vodka, and then the taste....Wasn't offensive, but wasn't of anything either. Don't know what to do with this stuff, never going to drink it.

7th April 2018

Holds its own against the very best of Jameson or Teelings.

Excellent whiskey !!! Beautiful !!! its everything the producers notes say it is.

5th April 2018

Would buy this product again

Very smooth worth seeking this whiskey out again

29th March 2018

Easy drinking

Enjoyable! I was unsure what to expect, however on nosing and tasting it has a profile very similar to a bourbon (maybe too much). I believe this comes from the fact that the spirit has given way to the first fill bourbon casks. I would recommend giving it a go for its price. It would be a good bottle to pass about at a summer BBQ.

22nd March 2018

Great drink

Bought for the first time last week, i prefer a whiskey that is not peated and has little smoke, this whiskey comes up trumps on both issues, lovely sipping drink, unfortunately half a bottle has gone already, will be certain to buy more.

8th March 2018

One of the best Irish against a very reasonable price. I LOVE it!

One of the best Irish against a very reasonable price!

18th February 2018

Wonderful

I really like Irish whiskeys, they are nearly always beautifully smooth, & silky, the older the smoother, this whiskey is up there , nut sweet, hint of bourbon, & strong, gorgeous on the rocks with a slice of lime.

15th February 2018

A very delightful blend

I am a Speyside single malt devotee, so this would need to be something special - and (for a blended) it is. Honey butteriness on the tongue, vanilla and a wisp of oakiness. Warming and not harsh. Drunk with a single cube of ice, let melt to reduce the temperature and dilute.
Good at any time of the year, it will hit a peak for Christmas, with its subtle flavours that create thoughts of pudding and mince pies (which my wife and I ate at the time of the second glass). My mother would bake our Christmas cake and prick it and rub whisky over it - this would have been divine.
I like to offer guests a choice of whiskey so this would have a place on my table with other brands.

2nd December 2017

Not bad but there are better

For the same price there are better Whiskeys. Poor entry by Diageo. I expect better from them in future. Slane is a better mixed blend in my opinion at this price point

19th November 2017

Enjoyably easy to drink.

As a peat and smoke fan I anticipated needing a bottle of coke. Was pleasantly surprised by how smooth this blend is, sweeter than most and warmly mellow. Difficult not to like if this is what you are looking for.

12th October 2017

Highly recommend

I was pleasantly surprised by this and ended up buying a second bottle!

12th October 2017

Nice smooth whiskey

Tried it in my local pub and had to have a bottle to test it properly

12th September 2017

Terrible

Literally the worst whiskey I have ever had. It tastes like vodka mixed with a bit of whiskey.

8th September 2017

@Which Batch?

Hello,

Our current stock is all from Batch 1 but that is not to say the next lot of stock we receive will be the same!

Which Batch?

Are the bottles in the offer from 'Batch 1'?

More like a fruity liqueur than a whiskey, but not bad

Doesnt taste like whiskey to me, more like a variation on a flavored schnapps or other liqueur, with a hint of whiskey. If you're expecting this shock then its not bad at all. There's a lot of light fruit flavour in it, pear in particular and I would love to know how they got that without infusing it with some botanicals.

For me, its definitely a whiskey for mixing, mainly because if its fruity, almost liqueur taste. Looking forward to trying it out in some cocktails but I wont be drinking much of it neat and as i like my whiskey neat, I probably wouldn't get another bottle

10th July 2017

Will certainly be sampling it again.....

Loved it, very smooth and easy on the palate...

19th May 2017

I was all set to hate this

But actually it's pretty good stuff, and for the money it's great. Nice one Diageo.
