Roasting Chestnuts & Peat Fire Embers & Mince Pies & Hygge
Single Malt
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, and the look of ampersands on a label. It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy, because it means the &Whisky folk have been up to their usual, delicious tricks. Here, a spectacular 50:50 blend of 10-year-old Islay and sherried Islay single malts cosy up together to give you Roasting Chestnuts & Peat Fire Embers & Mince Pies & Hygge. Hygge is a Danish word describing a feeling of warmth, cosiness, and well being, so kick back and enjoy this full-flavoured, fireside dram, full of superb smoke and sherry sweetness.
Hot roasted chestnuts, buttery shortbread, mince pies, and a touch of Islay sea spray.
Smouldering peat builds, with sticky muscovado sugar, cinnamon and waves of sherry fruit sweetness.
Sweet, roasted chestnut smoke lingers, along with comforting mince pie spice.
It doesn't get much better than a dram of this and a warm blanket on a cold, winter's evening, we reckon!
Oh my! This is pedigree deliciousness from a mongrel. Perfect fireside dram that takes Seaweed&Aeons etc to a whole new level.
Got myself a bottle of this as one of two of the &whisky ‘Christmas’ bottles (alongside Christmas Cake & Dark Chocolate & Medjool Dates & Cinnamon)… I highly recommend both, but as a peaty Islay fan this one slightly edges it for me the most (I give this 5 and the other 4.5). Pretty faultless actually. I think it’s a matter of taste, both are great.
I will definitely be returning to purchase this bottle. At first all I got was peat fire embers. But, the night after I got the sherry. A big mouthful of a dram.
If you’ve tried the Seaweed & Aeons & Christmas Cake & Cinnamon, this is an upmarket version. That mixes 10 year old Islay and Speyside, this mixes the Islay with a sherried Islay. I love them both - this is a bit like a Bunna 12.
Not sure whether this is an overall recommendation, but for me this is wonderful as a warming tot in a cup (mug) of coffee any time of year in Britain.
