A rye whiskey in the Pennsylvania style, this "carries a famous old Philadelphia name". Very tasty and aromatic.
Dried fruits and soft spices. Cocoa and butterscotch, alongside orange peel, cinnamon and caramel.
Thick, fruity palate with chocolate oranges, cassia bark, nutmeg and oak.
Tangy fruit and quite coppery. Marmalade and spice.

My absolute favourite bourbon for the price mark. Stands distinct.
This is one of the very few bonded whiskeys still produced. The flavor profile is in-your-face, with 50% ABV and all of the peppery spice one would expect from a predominately rye mash bill. Once you acquire a taste for it nothing else quite satisfies. Oh, and go ahead and mix it if you like. Makes a classic old fashioned.
For the bourbon drinker on a budget, its a good Rye. Just know this goes for $25 in the states, so its not meant to be a premium spirit. I don't usually mix my whiskey, but this might do well in a Manhattan. I think a much better choice would be to spend a little more and buy the Buffalo Trace Sazerac Rye instead.
This was my first try of a rye whiskey. I have to say, I was hoping for a little more. Nice sweet flavour, but not much depth to it.
I bought this as a cocktail ingredient but it's good enough to drink on it's own. A dash of water calms it down and brings out more of the flavour.
