It is a good rye whiskey. Thank you :0)
This stuff is $20 in Jackson, Wy.. What can I say? It's superb. Perhaps they increase in elevation (I came from Kansas) has brought about a heightened sense of smell and taste, but nevertheless, this is really good.
on my birthday i bought this bottle along with beam distillers cut 100 proof bottle. shots of both. I'd have to say rittenhouse is better more complex whiskey, but not by a long shot. the beam had an inpenetrable weird shallow woody note like balsa wood. I'll finish it though :) rittenhouse definitely defines peppery. anyway a shot or more of each knocked me on my arse and i have to effing get up and drag myself to the car dealership in the morning.. in conclusion I will be going back to WT101, neither can beat that.
Compared to a typical bourbon, this easy-drinking rye is bold and flavourful. Medium sweet, rich and full-bodied, I find this a good alternative to the rather one-dimensional syrupy or overly-smoky bourbons sold at the same price. Underrated gem, try this now!
Tried to climb on the Bourbon bandwagon, only to learn that I don't care for it much. So, tried ryes, instead: Old Overholdt (ok), Canadian Club 100% Rye (dreck), Bulleit Rye (ok, again). I despaired that I'd again find out that another whiskey was not to my to-be-honest limited palate's liking...then I bought this. This gem, this nectar, this inexpensive workhorse of a libation! It's not flashy or trendy, but it stands up incredibly well neat, or with water, or on (light) rocks or in cocktails. Simply a fantastic bottle of yum.
