From the Redbreast Iberian Series comes the Tawny Port Edition, a triple distilled single pot still Irish whiskey matured initially in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks for eight to ten years before being re-casked into Tawny Port hogsheads. It was bottled at 46% ABV.
Creamy hazelnut, cinnamon, marmalade, figs, sandalwood, and dark chocolate.
Sherried fruits and aromatic spices mingle together among more rich chocolatey and nutty goodness, as well as some caramel, dried cherry, and vanilla.
Dried mango and apricots, as well as notes of sage and honey.
Price considered , this is a let-down. 46% at this price is not great to begin with but the flavour profile is unmistakably Redbreast but is similar to the poorer relations of the family. Had to try it as I always do if I can get hold of anything new/Redbreast but this one is inferior to the Lustau if you ask me.
