Introduced in 2016, Lustau doubles down on the sherry influence all Redbreast fans love. This single pot still Irish whiskey was initially matured in a combination of American and European oak casks (like all Redbreasts) for 9 to 12 years, before being transferred over to first fill Oloroso sherry casks from Bodegas Lustau for a further year. Sublime stuff.
Rich and round with toasted almond, Curaçao orange peel studded with clove, stewed fruits and juicy sultanas.
Chewy milk chocolate and honey (almost a bit Crunchie-like) with allspice, walnut and poached plum depths.
Long with apple turnovers giving way to rich sherry and crushed cinnamon.
A lovely whiskey for slowly sipping while contemplating the meaning of life. With each sip it looks better and better.
A gem! Milk chocolate, marshmallow and caramel start through finish. Great mouthfeel, warming and perfect to start or finish an evening. The Redbreast gang sure know how to make some tasty whiskies!
Utterly blown away with this delightful little fella from the Emerald Isle. Quite happy and settled in at 46% with no added water (normally I'd add a spec). Full marks and looking forward to another jourbey via this Irish diversion. Fantastic nose the moment the cork come out. Smooth fruity vanilla sherry and biscuit. Warming after taste. Won't last long...too Good!
Drinking my first RB Lustau. Excellent addition to the RB family. Congratulation to all at Midleton, Truly worth waiting for. Tasting notes are spot on.
Very moreish and a great addition to the Redbreast range. Initially matured in bourbon and sherry casks for 9 to 12 years, it then receives a further year in Lustau Oloroso sherry casks. These impart a wonderful flavour to what is already a richly flavoured whiskey. It's in a totally different class to the peaty Islay classics, but if you like smooth, mellow and drink all-night whiskies, you'll find it hard to do better than this, for the price!
