Introduced in 2016, Lustau doubles down on the sherry influence all Redbreast fans love. This single pot still Irish whiskey was initially matured in a combination of American and European oak casks (like all Redbreasts) for 9 to 12 years, before being transferred over to first fill Oloroso sherry casks from Bodegas Lustau for a further year. Sublime stuff.
Rich and round with toasted almond, Curaçao orange peel studded with clove, stewed fruits and juicy sultanas.
Chewy milk chocolate and honey (almost a bit Crunchie-like) with allspice, walnut and poached plum depths.
Long with apple turnovers giving way to rich sherry and crushed cinnamon.

As a regular redbreast user I have just had bottle of Lustau bought as a present,it is nice smooth drink I need to have a Redbreast now to compare it to.
No chill filtered youngish dram. I'm guessing 8-10 years. Bright orange and cinnamon nose with a butter, cream and nougat palate. Finish is a little bitter and nutty but that gives this whiskey a little complexity. Nice melting smoothness to it. Lighter body than a sherried scotch but just as much flavor.
