Redbreast 12 Year Old Bottling Note

A delightful single pot still Irish whiskey, Redbreast 12 Year Old is highly praised by a host of notable critics. Distilled at the Midleton site from malted and unmalted barley, it’s then matured in a combination of American oak bourbon barrels and Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts. We can't get enough of this multi-award-winning whiskey.

Redbreast 12 Year Old Reviews

As a novice to the whiskey world ,i find it hard to justify spending over 50 euro on a bottle of whiskey when I'm only finding out what I like ,but the moment I drank redbreast 12yr old, I knew what my more knowledgeable friends were on about. It is a complex , sumptuous drop that I savoir rather than just drink.

A firm favourite

The intro Redbreast. It starts great and the redbreast range gets better and better the older it goes. Smooth and balanced it’s a fantastic everyday whiskey. Also possibly the only whiskey the wife says she doesn’t mind the smell of.

Did Not Disappoint

Absolutely insane. Fresh out the bottle was so sweet and velvety. Would like to tell you how it lasted but it was gone in 2 weeks! Got the 15 year to try also but found it too strong and bold for me so had to put a drop of water in. Just bought the Lustau which arrives tomorrow.. exciting times!

Not a big Irish whiskey drinker, but is one of the best I have had, and would buy again!

Redbreast 12-Year-Old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey - (On the Nose) Reminds me of Advocaat slightly with the nutmeg, Liquorice, spice, toffee, vanilla, caramel, dried fruits, citrus, honey, biscuit, sherry, butterscotch. (Palate) typical Irish whiskey, spice, almond, sweet, smooth, citrus notes, dried fruits, sherry, honey, cinnamon, maybe slight woody note, sweet

A great Irish Whiskey

Love it, this is my go - to Whiskey. Even though I managed to acquire a 2020 very rare Midleton last year the Redbreast 12 is still top of the list.
Taste is Spicy and fruity and it's definitely worth rolling over a few times in your mouth in order to savour the flavour. Lovely creamy finish too with no harshness at all.

A very special friend bought a bottle for me this Christmas....I was very very impressed by the amazing flavours and smoothness of redbreast. I know that everyone is entitled to their opinions but 3 stars and comparing this drink to a cognac is a bit of an insult to be quite frank. Loved it and will be getting myself a bottle ASAP. Thanks for a great product.

My first Irish pot still

Usually I stick to Scottish single malts but now and again I venture further afield to try something different - on this occasion, Redbreast 12. I read the many reviews and thought it would be a safe bet for my first pot still dram - and so it proved to be. I do enjoy a pint of a certain dark stout from the same country so I thought it would be a pleasant pairing. It was. I found all the various tasting notes available to be pretty spot-on so no point in repeating everything here but I did think it was better without any water added, probably because it's only 40% and I'm more used to Scottish malts at 46% and upwards. Still, (no pun intended) a most pleasant change.

Is that it?

Well, I don't know what to say.. I bought this after hours of reviews. And I am fairly disapointed, but maybe I was expecting more.. thank gosh my Bunna 18 is on its way, lol.

RB 12 is highly rated and considered to be one of the best 'all arounder', well.. I found JW Black to better, but perhaps my RB is coming from a bad cask. (It's a big statement for a 12 yr old whisky btw)

The mouthfeel is not oily as they say, I wasn't expecting it to be either because it is chill filtered. The palate itself is not interesting either, TWE say it's full bodied with 4/5 in richness. My palate is lacking these numbers and I find harsh note in it.

I just hope that I had a bad batch / bottle / cask or what ever you want to call it.

Anyways, cheers from Iceland.
