Rebel Yell Bourbon Bottling Note

Famous bourbon brand Rebel Yell has undergone a rebrand for a new generation of rebels. "Rowdy yet refined", this new look straight bourbon is the original recipe made with wheat, corn and malted barley.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Honey, vanilla, slightly woody raisin and candy sticks.

Palate: Sultanas, nectarine and hints of prune. Vanilla throughout.

Finish: Warming pressed apple.

Overall: Still enjoyable in the midnight hour.

Rebel Yell Kentucky Straight Bourbon Reviews

Odd, chemical flavor - - not good for even $20 whiskey

Not good, even for the price. I prefer $40-50ish bottles of bourbon but given the quantity I drink, I usually buy Four Roses (preferred) or Jim Beam as a cheap $20ish bottle of everyday bourbon. Saw Rebel tonight for $21 in upstate NY and decided to try. There is nothing special about those two but they at least taste like "bourbon". Rebel, on the other hand, has a hard-to-place weirdness to the taste that just isn't right. A little chemical tasting maybe? I am no expert, but the taste and mouthfeel remind me of some of the bad "whiskey blends" that mix whiskey with grain spirits. Will definitely not buy again.

Inexpensive good bourbon.

I like the smell of this bourbon. Pretty smooth to drink neat. I mixed with Diet Pepsi and it is very good.

Not bad.

Very smooth. Smell nice and has a light flavor that makes good for sipping straight out of a shot glass. Mixes well with cola, and I would highly recommend.

I initially left this comment on the French Oak version of Rebel Yell and have only just realised my mistake, it is in fact this Rebel Yell which in fact is all coconut on both nose and palate, the barman did put in a couple more rocks than I would have at home so not sure if that completely changed the profile seeing as I've not seen one other coconut review and this was very pronounced, a non whisky drinker even picked it up (more nose than palate but he could see where I was coming from although the initial whisky taste i'm sure took over for him.) Easy drinking and uncomplicated.

Love it!!!!

One of the best bourbons for everydsy. The flavor and nose are wonderful, neat or mixed. I prefer either neat/w ice, or with ginger ale.
Truly a great bourbon.

May the REBEL YELL be heard and tasted.

REBEL YELL says it all. To me there is not a better bourbon and I have tried many in my 70 years.

It'll make a turd

I thought I saw this on one of those ubiquitous "budget bourbon" lists but after tasting it I think I might have confused it with the Rebel Yell 100. Regardless of my potentially poor note taking skills, I'm finding this one somewhat undrinkable. Not completely, just somewhat. There's a lot of weird after tastes I'm not enjoying, especially when Evan Williams Bottled in Bond and Four Roses are effectively the same price.

I'm reminded of a story someone told me from their time on a submarine. The chief is walking by with an empty tray, leaving the galley and someone in line says, hey chief, how was the chow? He considered for a moment and said...meh, it'll make a turd. I cannot think of a better way to describe this. It's 80 proof sandpaper in a bottle and it gets the job done.

No. Just don't.

It is a mix of sweet with musty shoes. Horrible for anyone who enjoys good bourbon. I bought it at the very beginning of the Covid-19 lock down in case I needed an item to trade and ended up trying it. I regret that decision.
