Rampur Single Malt Whisky Bottling Note

This is the first Indian single malt whisky from the Radico Khaitan distillery (previously known as the Rampur distillery, hence the name), which is in Uttar Pradesh to the north of India. The distillery itself dates back to the 1940s, but this is their first single malt to make it to our shores!

Rampur Single Malt Whisky Reviews

Easy drinking

This is more of an easy drinking whisky than a complex one. Floral and fruity tones than spicy. Sits right between a rum and a whisky. I quite liked it though.

A really good whiskey!

A fantastic whiskey with floral, fruity notes, and right amount of richness & heat. It is a very smooth drink and does not have any peaty/smoky nose at all. The most prominent aroma is lychee and I could able to get hint of sweet spices (cardamom, cinnamon). I did not get any beetal (paan) or synthetic flavors at all. All in all, a great drink and I definitely would recommend.

Not impressed

Not impressed, this is a very simple whisky but sold at a premium price. It should be placed as the entry level whisky. Plain and lacks the complexity of a single malt. Not recommended.

Fantastic. No complaints.

Bought this as an experiment and have been really impressed. Have served at parties and have had no complaints At least a 4 out of 5 stars!!

Look for something else for this amount

Nothing great, I expected a lot more spices and flavors from an Indian whisky. To be honest, tasted a bit synthetic and plasticky.

Good whisky, 9/10, would recommend.

Absolutely interesting whisky. It's quite heavy on the fruits with a fair amount of sweetness. The finish is long and ends fairly dry. It's quite pleasant and I absolutely love and recommend this. I've tried Paul John, but this blows Paul John out of the water. Definitely worth the extra price.

It grows on you

Picked this up at Dubai duty-free. I tend to drink Scotch whisky exclusively, but I was very curious about Indian whisky.
Nose: Caribbean rum right off, then dried apricots and malt.
Palate: Pepper and other spicy stuff, caramel and cereal.
The finish is long, and caramel and especially the spice linger. Interesting indeed.
