Raasay While We Wait (Third Release)

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Raasay While We Wait (Third Release) to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that).

In the meantime, our friends over at The Whisky Shop might be able to help you out.

Thank you for your support and understanding 🙂

Raasay While We Wait 3rd Bottling Note

The Isle of Raasay distillery is open for business (as we discussed in our blog post on the subject), but there's still waiting to be done - their whisky needs time to mature. While we wait, why not try their theird release of While We Wait, a lightly peated single malt from an undisclosed distillery. The first release was finished in Tuscan wine casks for 8 weeks and the second release was finished in Tuscan wine casks for 18 months - the third release, however, is a combination of those two finishes!

Raasay While We Wait (Third Release) Reviews

Split personality

At a tasting in my local spirit supplier I thought this whisky was light and fruity, with a touch of smoke. The wine cask was also distinctly present, almost like a hint of Rose (sorry, don't know how to put an accent on the 'e' in this text box). A very pleasant summer's whisky, so I bought one.
Half way through the bottle though, either the whisky has changed in some way or at least my impression of it has changed because the main element on the nose is now a rather unpleasant vinegary red wine. Now I have that in my head it dominates the experience for me and I can't drink it. One of the few occasions I have actually thrown whisky away.
