Old Pulteney 17 Year Old - Pre 2017

This 17 year old from the Pulteney distillery was a double gold winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, matured in Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is clean and fresh with great balance. There is a profusion of fruit, from fruit salad with honeydew melon and pear to dried fruits, sultanas in a hot cross bun, fresh from the oven, a lightly salted butter melts over it with notes of fudge and a hint of something vaguely green. There is a lovely creaminess to the nose with notes of soft whirling smoke and crème fraîche. The palate is quite full and very sweet with sugared citrus peels and toffee. There are some notes of beeswax and honeycomb and fudge rises with malted barley and cereal sweetness. The finish is long with a herbal edge and a chewy oak.

    Quality dram

Sweet and sour on the nose but more of just the sweet notes in the taste. Apples, pears, hard candy and hints of berries along the lines of strawberry and raspberry jam. Overall a highly enjoyable dram.

    Awesome dram

Good quality, lots of fruits, light but still complex. Not the cheapest 17yo but still a great value.

    Very, very good

Very rich while maintaining the Old Pulteney freshness. Almost too sweet on the palate at first but gives way to a slightly less sweet and woody finish which is very long. I'd pick this up on offer without fail

    17 years of perfection

The finish on this whisky is superb. So creamy, the casks have given this a great great flavor.

    Light yet Deep

I cant add much to previous reviewers who note that It's light, smooth, subtle & easy to drink, yet has a deepness that make you keep enjoying trying to work out all the flavours. It's a lovely drink for both newcomers and experienced drinkers alike, and I'll have a bottle among my regulars for a long time, but not the same bottle, it wont last that long !!
