The 12 year old expression from Old Pulteney released in mid-2018 was entirely aged in bourbon casks, resulting in a heavy influence of bourbon sweetness - which helps to balance the characteristic coastal salinity of the whisky. An excellent introduction to Old Pulteney (though well worth a look even if you've already been introduced).
Honeycomb, vanilla tablet, soft sawdust oakiness and oatcakes.
Chocolate peanuts, mint, citrus peels, maritime elements and white pepper.
Toffee, brine and lemon.

Nothing spectacular, but very drinkable.
A good mouth fell. the maritime notes give a unique profile. Fruit, oatmeal and faint citrus notes make it a warm and approachable dram. A permanent resident in my liquor cabinet.
I must have bought close to an hundred different whiskys before finally trying this Old Pultney... And i have to say it surprised me a lot. It is a very easy and rewarding drink. Smooth and delicate, it reminds me the Oban for a bit. That See spray touch is really there and so enjoyable! I became a new fan and will try the 15yo for sure. A great scotch at a very attractive price, a must have for every whisky lovers!
Bought a bottle of this yesterday and what a difference from previous years. Tastes similar to bells with a touch of smoke, awful. Never again.
My go to. Soft creamy overtones hints of vanilla and a mild peaty zing. A zong in the left nostril and a zany in the right.
