The 12 year old expression from Old Pulteney released in mid-2018 was entirely aged in bourbon casks, resulting in a heavy influence of bourbon sweetness - which helps to balance the characteristic coastal salinity of the whisky. An excellent introduction to Old Pulteney (though well worth a look even if you've already been introduced).
Honeycomb, vanilla tablet, soft sawdust oakiness and oatcakes.
Chocolate peanuts, mint, citrus peels, maritime elements and white pepper.

Old Pulteney 12 is my quintessential "everyday dram" of single malt. I can find it for between $28-$32, and for that price it is outstanding. Maybe the highest value single malt around.
I've never really tasted anything similar, very unique. Big hit of apples and pears on my palet, almost Sauvignon Blanc esq. Citrus and salty aftertaste. Not bad but I doubt I'd buy again...but personal taste is everything.

My go-to malt! Love it's light oakey flavour - very smooth and warm. Lovely 'memories' of sea and sky and Scottish Haar with just enough salt to offset the sweetness..
