Poit Dhubh 12 Year Old Bottling Note

A 12 Year Old blended malt, this was matured in sherry casks, which has brought a lovely sweetness to counteract the peat. Poit Dhubh is Gaelic for "Black Pot", or Illicit Still...

Watch the price hike
It is about £10 (33%) a bottle more than when I last bought it - Why?

Tasty
Pretty damned good for £26.58 (NZ price - didn't bother asking for the UK price).
Big smoky hit on opening the bottle - very nice.

Quality Blended Malt
Arrival is all Oloroso sherry with lovely toffee and dried fruits. The long finish is a blast of smokey peat. However, this is no Lagavulin 16 as the elements are not so well integrated, nor does it have Laga's complexity or age. However it is about £20 a bottle cheaper. Blended in the Isle of Skye may well include some Talisker. Bottled unchillfiltered at 43% it is a great find and very good value.
