A single pot still release of Powers whiskey. It's matured in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks, and named after the distillery where it was first made, now sadly closed.
Barley, copper, fresh oak, leather, and juicy fruit.
Very smooth with vanilla, dry spice, chocolate and coffee. There is dark fruit here too, raisins and blackcurrants.
More vanilla and drying copper notes.
A very well balanced whiskey with not a note out of place. Lovely.
When thinking of Irish Pot Still styles, people will always recommend Redbreast 12 or Green Spot but my personal choice would be the Powers Johns Lane. Excellent expression of the style and much more inviting than it's brothers of style. Sweet, smooth and well rounded flavours. Honey, Vanilla and Toffee with a peppery back end. A must have
Sweet, spicy, peppery, full of flavour. Wonderful
Mid to upper range, pretty damn smooth, it's my go to
It's quite acrid & burny, plus unless u like ur Pot Stilled to taste like a Bourbon I'd advise u avoid! Also it's marketed at the Yankee Tourist to boot, what with all that over the top nostalgia trip stuff on the box & leaflet that your probably paying extra for. But hay opinion is objective & we all have our own.
Just bought another two bottles ! Thankfully it is priced sub £50, it could be priced much higher, its that good ! Don't hang about, just buy.
