Reviews for Powers John's Lane Release 12 Year Old Single Pot Still
Poor
Apologies, but I just don't understand all those high marks.
I tried it in 2013 and again few days ago... Completely different whiskeys! I don't know what happened-poor batch, poor casks, overblended?
It tastes thin, no complexity at all, woody, solventy, some vanilla… definitely no sherry cask influence. Gets better after few min in the glass and some water (below 40%).
There are better Irish whiskies at similar price.

A world-class whiskey
Classic single pot still style... thick, rich and delicious. This is one of the great whiskeys of the world... Varying barrels during aging is one the secrets to great Irish whiskeys... and the Oloroso casks which are used by only a handful of distilleries add amazing depth, subtle sweetness and character... Good value at the $50 price point... grab a bottle if you can find it!

super tasty
I'm not knowledgeable or experienced in whiskies, and by whisky I mean everything - scotch, rye, bourbon, whisky - so take this with a grain of salt, but to date this is my favorite one. I've had Balvenie Caribbean Cask, which is good, and I've had some upper-end highland (and lowland) scotches when I was in Edinburgh (I'm assuming they were "upper-end" since the price tags were a couple hundred euros per bottle), but of all these John's Lane remains my favorite.

Five stars
I meant five stars not 4.5. But I was enjoying so much finger slipped
