Indie bottlings of Port Ellen always cause lots of excitement among whisky enthusiasts, as the distillery has long been closed and sorely missed. This right here is a single cask bottling from the closed Islay legend, distilled in 1983 and mature in a bourbon hogshead until 2016. It was bottled by Malts of Scotland with an outturn of just 249 bottles.
Dusty oak, white chocolate, honey'd cereal and a good kick of richly smoky peat.
Spicy smoke, tempered with lemon and green apple. Hints of old oak furniture.
Soot, orange peel dusted with nutmeg, a lingering coastal breeze.
