Bruichladdich
Scotland
Single Malt
Port Charlotte PMC:01 is the sixth release in Islay distillery Bruichladdich's Cask Exploration series. The 2013 vintage was made from Scottish Concerto barley peated to 40ppm which was distilled and then popped into first-fill bourbon barrels for 4 years. In 2017, spirit was re-casked into Pomerol wine casks from Bordeaux’s Right Bank. It's the first time that Port Charlotte spirit has matured in Pomerol cask and it brings all kinds of sweet and tart dark berries and leather notes to the single malt Scotch whisky.
Classic Islay salty maritime notes meet rich peat smoke, red fruits, rose, honey, aged leather, and clove.
Conference Pears, blackberries, stewed plums, vanilla, melon, and ginger, with a touch of marzipan.
Smoke and sea linger with more cooked black fruit.
One of the best value whisky out there. That goes for the whole Port Charlotte range. The combination of this their wonderful peated spirit and this particular wine cask is incredibly well done.
It is an excellent whisky, in fact I am on my 2nd bottle of this. One of the best I had.
It smells really fresh, like coke pop. I think it is the most differentiated of all the Cask Expirations series. Pomerihou barrels bring aromas of berries, honey, and tangerine peel. And the classic peated finish. Love it! Worth it!
This is the most differentiated of all the Cask Explorations at Port Charlotte. It smells a little like Coke pop, alcohol is not unpleasant at all, very fresh. Pomerihou cask brings a very intense berry, and vanilla flavor. And the classic peated taste, love it!
