Port Askaig Sherry Cask
Port Askaig delivers a masterclass in balanced peat and sherry cask influence with this addition to its core range. This Islay single malt matured in oloroso sherry butts from the renowned Spanish cooperage of Jose y Miguel Martin. Bottled in small batches of 20 sherry butts at a time, it boasts a satisfyingly complex profile, dense with notes of coal smoke, cacao, boozy berries, and barbecued meat.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
The nose opens with smoked damson jam and peppery seared steak, brightened by navel orange and liquorice.
Palate
The palate grows dense with coal smoke and dark chocolate-covered cherries alongside charred BBQ meats.
Finish
Finally, a finish of cocoa nibs and dried mint carries a lingering trace of boozy berries.
