Released as part of the 2023 Port Askaig relaunch, this 8 Year Old is aged initially in American oak barrels before spending over five years in a selection of bourbon barrels, toasted American oak barrels, PX sherry butts, and refill hogsheads. Like all Port Askaig whisky, it’s non-chill filtered and free from added colouring.
An interplay of vanilla sweetness, zesty, citrus, and Islay’s iconic peat smoke.
Seagrass, limestone, burnt tires, liquorice, and dark peat.
Long and smoky.

Really enjoyed this one. Very nicely balanced. Good smoke but not overpowering. One to sip and contemplate life over.
4 star. Taste was ok & young 8 years but I prefer Cask Strength Port Askaig taste better. I enjoy drink. If you fan peat & why not try. If you not fan peat so you don’t need this.
