An 8 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Islay, bottled for Speciality Drinks' Port Askaig range. Enjoyably smokey and elegant - a neat introduction to the range.
Charcoal, salted crisps and a good squeeze of lemon.
Soft salted caramel brings a sweetness to the palate, with waves of coastal peat smoke crashing underneath.
Medium length, with a hot kick of peppercorn.

So people pour this down the sink when it’s won awards! Give it away to someone who likes smoky Islay whiskies! You either like smoky whisky or you don’t. But if you don’t, why buy it and then put a review on here? This is a top quality firecracker of a dram. I have just finished my first bottle. I will be buying another soon!
Pretty good 8. I get the nose and tasting notes listed as well as a bit of sweet kettle popcorn. Definitely get the peppery finish and peat smoke, although it’s not heavy. It’s lighter, simple and sweet and it’s pretty nice for what it is.
This is a lovely young Islay whisky with just the right balance (for my palate) of freshness and fruitiness to make it approachable but with a smoky, darker undertone to make it interesting and a nice peppery kick on the finish. And all for around £40 a bottle, seems like excellent value to me.
Now I’m no expert.... but this is a little different than you’d expect, very light, lemony, a little bit oaty and ends with a bit of pepper, not too long but quite enjoyable
Looks like white wine, but full of nice peaty, coastal flavours.Well liked in all reviews i'vd watched and I agree.Same strength as most Taliskers!
