Bottled by Speciality Drinks, this is a superb cask-strength, 19 year old single malt whisky from the Port Askaig range. The bottlers will not reveal from which distillery this hails... We can only guess (perhaps it's the one at Port Askaig... Caol something isn't it? I forget).
Fresh, coastal nose. A little oily, and faintly smoky. The smoke develops over time and becomes rather peaty, with a touch of cranberry too.
Thick, fruity palate, with notes of peat smoke, a touch of dried banana, biscuity malt and cocoa butter. Very interesting indeed, with an oily mouth-feel.
Sweet, peaty finish. Dusty and oily.
Fantastic.

Just the way I like it!
Perfect outside from the hip flask or inside on a rainy day when you just need that peaty feeling. Better than the 12 yo and worth the extra money. Grows on you and gets better for every glass. Only problem is that the bottle got empty too soon.
Why would anyone buy a Port Askaig when there was a chance they didn't like Peat? especially at this price, madness. This is lovely stuff but you have to have hairs on your chest and not mind the peaty whack of a whisky that tastes like a dusty seaside shack with a big dose of peat for good measure
Tried this... and well, nothing special, just tasted peat and more peat. Even after 10 minutes the only thing I had in my mouth was nothing but peat. Not worth the money at all.
