    Port Askaig 100° Proof

Launched in 2015, the Port Askaig 100° Proof is a big, smoky single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery. This is bottled at 57.1% ABV - which is 100° Proof in a traditional system of alcohol content measurement (different from 100 proof, which you're much more likely to see on American bottlings).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Earthy smoke rises first, shortly followed by smoked meats, citrus peels and a heaped spoonful of brown sugar.

    Palate

Zesty lemon and lime, paired with ground cumin, Smiths Bacon Fries and a touch of apple juice.

    Finish

    Rather long and enjoyably soot-y.

    Sublime

My or one of my favorites, imagine Ardbeg 10yr old,Berry Brothers Islay Reserve, with even more flavor. This is,in my opinion the epitome of Islay, the contrasts are indeed sublime.Powerful and delicate!

Zesty & Sweet with a smoky palate and finish.

For me, being a confirmed Islay drinker: The nose was much lighter than expected, smoke and peat present but balanced, sweet, fruit, citrus, light apple. Palate - sweet citrus at the front of the mouth, leading to a burst of smoke and peat (nowhere near say laphroig 10 or corryvreckan but still making a presence), and sweet strong treacle tart! Finish is lingering and pleasurable - more typical of an Islay malt than the palate. Not a "big gun" but nicely balanced, sweet and enjoyable!

    As good as it gets

It's very pale, not a lot when nosed but the taste comes crashing through. My guests all asked for refills, so that's a good sign !

    Smoky and sweet

I like a peaty Whisky, now and again. Took a change and ordered, and I am not disappointed at all. looking at purchasing more in the near future. I love it. Kev Doncaster

    Good, not perfect though

It's does taste like a BBQ in your mouth, and it goes straight to the head. It doesn't quite rival Smokehead Sherrybomb for me, and its almost clear appearance left ne having to argue with friends that it is intact a whisky. It wasn't a bad drink, but its not one I'll rush to buy again.
