This straight rye is made in the Maryland/Potomac style of rye whiskey. Pikesville offers a spicy, rich character. Great in a Manhattan!

Your best buy, Pikesville Rye!

a few years ago I had a bottle of this, but the taste of my current bottle from Christmas 2014 seems a bit lacking in the flavor from then. The first bottle kicked like a mule with full flavor, a biting, almost acid like lingering taste on the tongue, plenty of oak barrel taste. This time it taste "cleaner" almost watery, lacking in the same biting flavor it had 3-4 years ago. It's supposedly based on a Revolutionary War formulation, similar to what my American forefathers drank. It says 3 years old, but not "aged" 3 years. As for taste, it's like it spent a year in a lightly burned oak barrel. Almost no after taste to it now. Sad, it really used to give you that "retro" feeling in a whiskey, but now it's only a bit more biting than Canadian Club, which is a smooth whiskey. It was a gift this year, but I will probably look for another straight rye instead, unless I hear it's returned to it's former glory.

I feel that remark in the bottling note indicates that this is better drank with mixers. This is certainly not my favorite rye. It definitely has an aggressive taste.

Grew up in Maryland drinking Pikesville Rye and was astonished to find it in the Master of Malt Advent Calender amongst so many fine and prestigious whiskeys. Smoother than I remember, spicy with some pleasant burn.

I enjoyed this rye and will continue to drink. It seems to have a strong following

than other ryes I've tried. I'd drink another dram of it, but when I buy I bottle of rye it will be another brand. It's not a bad rye, but I feel there are better. Karl
