Pike Creek 10 Year Old is a top notch Canadian whisky which gets treated to a finishing period in rum barrels before bottling (previously Pike Creek was finished in Port casks, though the producer changed it to rum barrels at some point in the 2010s). Excellent stuff, and great value-for-money, too.

Nose

Honey'd raisins and pecans, with a spicy little kick of herbaceous rye hiding in there.

Palate

Old-fashioned cola cubes, cardamom heat, caramel and a clear suggestion of good rum.

Finish

Lasting notes of brown sugar and dried oak.

Excellent Canadian Whisky full of flavour

Absolutely sublime, the rum cask and brown sugar notes really come through in this smooth Canadian Whisky. It's not peaty or harsh like some of the Scottish counterparts, but dare I say moreish. One glass can easily become two. Definitely one of the best tasting Canadian whisky I have come across in 30yrs.

Excellent Canadian style whisky

Absolutely sublime, the rum cakes flavour and brown sugar notes really come through in this smooth Whisky. In true Canadian whisky fashion, this does not disappoint. I received a bottle as a birthday present and have seriously been blown away by it. It's also very smooth over ice, and doesn't come over all peaty like its Scottish counterparts.

Is A Rhum!

Is not a Whisky that's for sure.. is more of a Rhum! Reminded me some of Caroni Rhum watered down. Rhum finishing just overpowering. Is ok I've paid only £20 on offer but I wouldn't buy it again.

Not worth buying anymore.

When it was finished in port barrels it was excellent. Now that it is finished in rum barrels it is harsh and bitter. Not sure what the reason for the change was but it was a poor move on the distilleries part as far as I'm concerned.

Sweet

Nice initial flavour, but a little too sweet to be a good whiskey. Too sugary for me.
