Phenol, guaiacol, and cresol molecules make up phenolic compounds, and they play a huge part in what makes smoky whisky taste so distinct, and delicious. Bottled at a big, bold 57.3% ABV, this generously peated single malt proudly showcases rich layers of pungent, earthen smoke that are sure to delight anyone who enjoys a dram of peaty deliciousness.
Oh yeah, there's smoke... it starts with some meaty notes of biltong, developing into burnt cinnamon biscuits and more smoked salami. A touch of burnt rubber rests in the depths, but there's bakery sweetness too, it's complex and enticing.
Dense layers of peppery oak and herbaceous peat coat the palate, with earthen smoke and charcoal embers joined by singed herbs, and beneath, a touch of toasted vanilla and crumbly fudge.
Hefty oak char, meaty malt, and vegetal, pungent peat remain, with charred apricots, more vanilla, and sprinkles of white pepper and cinnamon bringing a comforting warmth.
