From the Penderyn Distillery comes Faraday, a Welsh single malt initially released for the travel retail market. The whisky is named after the distillery's Faraday still, designed by (and obviously named after) Dr David Faraday, and aged in bourbon casks. Before bottling, the whisky is finished in ruby Port casks, giving it a somewhat fruitier flavour profile.
Obvious Port influence on the nose, with chocolate raisins, berry jam and creamy vanilla notes.
Creamier than the nose might suggest, with more vanilla, dried cranberry and toasty oak, supported by ribbons of caramel.
Milk chocolate praline with oodles of dried berries, and a tannic oak finish.
Absolutely the best Welsh wiskey ever. £27.00 in waitrose. I paid £23 with vouchers
