A friend brought back a bottle from Wales for me. I love a peaty whisky, and the subtle tease of peat was delightful and in had a nice warm finish. I look forward to trying this whisky in about five years when it crosses the 10yo barrier.
I love this sublime smokey whisky. It is not especially smooth and I know it isn't to everyone's taste but it is very serious after dinner fiery and deliciously musky pipe smoke flavour. Scrummy!
I went to the distillery to taste this and was very disappointed with it. I did not find it complex at all but could taste only very strong oak which was ok only. I'm afraid I couldn't detect any peat at all not surprising as the only exposure to peat comes from being finished in casks that had previously held a peated whisky. It's a shame and far too expensive. Sorry I really wanted it to work!
A really slightly peated whisky with a strong dominant taste of wood
