Paul John Nirvana

A fab no-age statement single malt from Paul John over in India! This one has been dubbed Nirvana, and while it'll suit any whisky lover, it was created with those who are only just beginning to drink whisky in mind. Indian barley and charred American oak casks work in harmony here, with lots of barley sugar and honeyed notes to enjoy.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Treacle and butterscotch, with baked pineapple, sweet malt and fig.

Palate Honeyed cinnamon and barley sugar, with a smidge of salt bringing balance alongside ripe orchard fruit.

Finish Crystallised ginger lingers alongside vanilla and milk chocolate.

Reviews for Paul John Nirvana
I must have a terrible pallet 🤷🏻‍♂️
Low expectations having read some of the reviews, but very pleasantly surprised. For the price point, this is very palatable. But then, maybe I’m just a heathen?

One for a honey lover
This surprised me! I really liked it! Loads of honey. Not for peat lovers as there's no smoke at all but a treat for those who like smooth sweet whiskies.

I know some people have panned it but i found it quite honeyed and moreish.

Quirky and interesting
Wet grassy hay on the nose similar to lowland malts, soft on the palate if a bit thin with toffee notes. Easy drinking but not special

I got a 5cl bottle from MoM whisky santa a week or two ago, and while i appreciate the gift, all i can say is it's just 'ok', with nothing there to make it stand out or make me want to rush out to buy a full size bottle, and for £30 there's so many better choices out there.

Don't
Of the hundreds of bottles I've had in the house over the years, there are very few I'd rate as "pour-down-the-sink". This was one. I'm a huge Paul John fan, and have really enjoyed several of their expressions and was excited to try this, but it was undrinkable. It had no age to it at all, and I could easily have been drinking watered down moonshine, such was the over-powering taste of corn. Save your money.

Fantastic value and will keep on hand for the summer too!
This packs a punch of pineapple and vanilla and is well worth trying if you can forgo the need for peat or smoke
