Description

A particularly flavoursome Indian single malt from the Paul John range. Kanya is an unpeated expression that has been aged in first-fill American white oak casks and bottled at 50% ABV. Only 1,500 bottles were produced.

In Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2018, this expression was awarded a staggering 96 points and the title of Best Asian Whisky 2018!

Nose

Peaches in syrup, almond liqueur and a touch of fresh papaya. Creamy vanilla and

Palate

Butterscotch, dried apple chips, waves of honey, freshly-cooked waffles coated in butter.

Finish

Lightly spiced, though notes of maple syrup and apricot remain.

Stunning whisky.

I tried this at a tasting hosted by Jim Murray himself. Tried it alongside his world whisky of the year from 2017 (Booker Rye) and 2018 (Colonel EHT 4 grain) and it was comfortably the best in my opinion. Stunning.
