Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Butterscotch on the nose, with soft sweetness and Demerara sugar.

Palate Soft with gentle spices, charcoal, cinnamon bark, hints of cold coffee and honey.

Finish Pertains to sweetness, but really the beauty of this is the aromatic savouriness that lies underneath the caramel.

Reviews for Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year Old
A lot of hype and I like my blantons way better.
I recently won a bottle of the 12 year old in the Pennsylvania LCB lottery. I’m very disappointed!! I actually did a taste test with Blantons. 4 our of 4 picked Blantons. The van Winkle has much too much alcohol taste. I must have a bad bottle.

Simply the best
Had always wanted to try the Van Winkle range and was lucky enough for the wife to get me one of your tasting sets.

Whilst they are all excellent examples of what a good bourbon should be, for me the 12 stands out as the best of them.

Really hard to find, so if you can and the price isn't too excessive you can't go wrong.

Did hear the EH taylor single barrel was a good alternative, but after buying a bottle sadly found it's not nowhere near as nice as Pappy.

Five star just sitting on my bar!!
If you can get one bottle get two.... as for the price, since you can't get any I guess you win paying zero... However, if you find one or two pretend 100's are 10's and buy it.... Very rare and the top of the top in any Bourbon bar... (buy two sell one)

Fantastic taste and quality, absurd pricing.
Wonderful stuff - quality and taste is top shelf. Price is absurd if you happen to come across a bottle, you shouldn't be paying any more than $150 MAX.

I have had this and EH Taylor Single Barrel. They are my two absolute favorite Bourbon's. However, the EH Taylor is my choice every time because it is actually possible to buy a bottle at MRSP

Like hens teeth
I am a Scotch drinker that was put on to this glorious bourbon by a friend. Unfortunately it's damned near impossible to get a bottle here in Canada. Luckily that same friend was able to get me one of the 3 bottles that was allotted to the entire Atlantic provinces this year. So happy to have it in my collection!

....and it only cost me £100

The Yanks make fab Whisky
Amazingly smooth and the experience begins once you poor it and ends minutes after the first drink. Cinnamon is really noticeable in this fine bourbon. Cheers!

The King of bourbons......
the absolutly best balance bourbon in the world!!
But the price in england is horrible!!
In Germany/France maximal 55 euro!!
Nevermind even 70 Euro is not to much for this divine stuff!!

A glass of luxury
Without doubt THE best Bourbon i've had, fairly sweet with an unrivalled smoothness, very hard to 'just have the one' !
