Old Perth doubles down on its sherry obsession with PX 2.0, a full-throttle blended malt matured entirely in first-fill European oak Pedro Ximénez casks. Built from five Speyside distillates, including weightier worm tub styles, this one is engineered to handle serious sherry influence without collapsing into syrup. Four butts and two hogsheads did the heavy lifting here, followed by a month-long rest to let everything settle. Old Perth Pedro Ximénez Limited Edition 2.0 was bottled at 54.3% ABV so it has a fair bit of power to it.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Raisins, dates, and treacle sponge, backed by dark chocolate, espresso, and a dusting of cinnamon.
Palate
Sticky toffee pudding, fig jam, and burnt sugar, with clove, nutmeg, and a chewy, almost oily richness.
Finish
Long, sweet, and spicy, with lingering dried fruit, oak tannin, and a final hit of PX-soaked decadence.
