My go to. Pretty inexpensive where I live a bottle runs about $15. Great nose (sugar, caramel, maple) and a little heat from the high rye. Great on the rocks or mixed. One day people will rediscover this one and the price will go way up. Also offers a bottled in bond version but skip that and the extra price and go with this one if you've never tried it before. You will not be disappointed.

Old Grand-Dad is one of those bourbons known as "high-rye bourbons," because the mash of grains out of which it is distilled contains less corn and more rye than is normal for bourbon, but not enough rye to qualify as "rye whiskey" under American law. I have had a good number of high-rye bourbons, but this one is unusual. If I had tasted this "blind" I would have sworn it isn't "high-rye bourbon whiskey" at all but an outright "rye whiskey." Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? I guess it depends on what you think of rye, and fortunately I like it a lot. If you are looking for a more typical bourbon experience, buy something else.
If you are a Jim Beam fan you will love this one. Well balanced after the initial whiskey taste. Easy drinking .
