Old Forester UK Bartender Barrel 001
In mid-2019, Old Forester took eight bartenders from London, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh over to Kentucky with master taster Jackie Zykan to select the first UK barrel. This right here is bourbon drawn from the very first barrel, bottled for the Single Barrel series. It's been aged for around four years, moved to different locations in the ageing warehouse throughout. A brilliantly unique bourbon bottled at a slightly higher 45% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Fresh buttered toast with a dollop of orange marmalade, a touch of spicy rye, oily roasted nuts and buttery croissant.
Palate
Smooth and slightly bitter dark chocolate praline, a touch of maple syrup sweetness and oaky vanilla peeking through. Spice beings to appear alongside berry coulis and a grassy undertone.
Finish
Orange blossom and lots of baking spice on a warming and peppery finish, tempered by a touch more chocolate.
