North of Scotland 46 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

North of Scotland TBWC Bottling Note

It's the first batch of North of Scotland single grain Scotch whisky to be bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and it's particularly well-aged indeed - 46 years old! However, those Boutique-y folks might need to take another look at a map of Scotland for the next batch. The one on this batch is a bit... Incorrect. To be fair, the North of Scotland distillery is only just outside Glasgow, so it makes things a bit confusing, mind.

Batch 1 is a release of 193 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Among supple woody tannins and ancient oak furniture, there’s soft toffee pennies, buttered bloomer bread and vanilla buttercream. Hints of tart raspberry and roasted banana ice cream develop.

Palate: In a slightly leathery and lightly spiced (it’s more winter spice than oak tannins now) palate there’s lemon sponge cake, crystallised fruits and faintly sharp green apple. Damp malt, a little heather and white stone fruit emerge after time.

Finish: Dried grass and some minerality linger in a delicate and medium-length finish.

Overall: A stellar tipple. There’s so much to enjoy here.

Grain Delight from Long Silent Distillery
I thought all the casks for North of Scotland were gone and spoken for. A true delight to see TBWC have one and a great one it is! Lovely and smooth, creme soda delight and a pleasure to taste a long forgotten distillery.
