North British 30 Year Old 1988 (Thompson Bros.)
There's no bargain quite like an old single grain Scotch and we have another one here, this time from North British Distillery. This was distilled and filled into a refill butt back on 19 April 1988, but Thompson Bros. didn't its hands on it until the summer of 2022, when the Scotch indie bottler emptied it until there were 311 bottles at 51.7% ABV each.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Banana milkshake drenched porridge, sawdust, dried apricots, and a few roasted coffee beans.
Palate
Buttery pastries lined with sultanas and drizzled in chocolate syrup, with some floral sweetness in the backdrop.
Finish
Drying oak spice remains.
