North British 18 Year Old 2003 (cask 15587) - Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
An independently bottled single grain Scotch from the North British Distillery up in Edinburgh, released by Douglas Laing as part of the Old Particular series. Distilled in March 2003, this one spent 18 years mellowing, including a finish in a single refill butt. In February 2022, the cask was opened, yielding an outturn of 183 bottles of this fruity, syrupy sipper.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Gooey flapjack, covered in milk chocolate, lemon blossom, and orange cream.
Palate
Sticky toffee pudding, spiced banana bread with candied ginger, and roasted almonds followed by layers of vanilla.
Finish
Buttery fudge, a touch of pepper, more creamy grain, and nutty oak.
