North British 13 Year Old 2008 Single Cask (Master of Malt)

The North British distillery produces magnificent grain whisky in its hometown of Edinburgh, and we managed to get hold of a cask for ourselves right here! Not just for ourselves though – we'll share. 312 bottles of this single grain Scotch joined our single-cask collection in 2022, after spending 13 years in a single bourbon barrel.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Buttery sponge, syrup-soaked oats, sawdust, and peppery spice with crisp toasted oak, cereal, and an almost mineral vibrancy.

Palate

Fluffy vanilla souffle is followed quickly by a splash of warming spice as it goes down, soon mellowed by more creamy grain and soft apricot.

Finish

Butterscotch rests beside sweet orange zest with warming notes of brandy butter bringing brilliant balance to rich charred, peppery oak spice.
