The inaugural release in the Westie Sponge series from Decadent Drinks, for Westie Sponge One two casks of Nc’Nean single malt were selected. They were distilled in 2018 from two different yeast recipes: Anchor and Fermentis, and Anchor, Fermentis and DistilaMax RM, and then matured in two first-fill hogsheads, before being combined and then put back into the same two casks for a few months. Just half of this vatting was filled into 340 bottles at a slightly reduced bottling strength of 55% ABV. The remainder was re-racked into refill wood and will be bottled at some time in the future.
