Mortlach 20 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
The Beast of Dufftown is back, and it doesn't look like it's calmed down one bit. This is the fifth batch of single malt from Mortlach to be independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and this times it's a 20 year old expression. Someone really should stop that beast from terrorising the townsfolk...
Batch 5 is a release of 342 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Melting butter, crushed almond and a little sugar dusted pastry rise through wafts of light oak and vanilla-y malt.
Palate
Rich sherried notes bring depth among earthy vanilla pod and stewed pear. Succulent toffee sweetness develops with tropical fruit and brown sugar in support.
Finish
Red chilli flakes and rye add spice and warmth.
Overall
Incredibly tasty stuff from Mortlach.
