A stunning Mortlach single malt distilled in September 1987, aged for over 26 years in a single hogshead and bottled in September 2014 (just days before it would have turned 27). We couldn't be happier to release this as part of our Single Cask Series!
Ground almond, freshly baked brown bread, some meatiness and allspice, sweeter angel cake and dried coconut too, hints of tangerine. Exciting.
Classic dry and juicy barley character leads into nuttier chestnut and a hint of sweet smoke, even a touch of chocolate late on.
Barley sugar, sugar almonds, chocolate malt and warming barley wine.
Extraordinary single malt from the Beast of Dufftown without the Sherry influence you'd usually associated it with.

This is a really nice whisky, with a lovely well-balanced flavour, great aftertaste, and a very good afterglow. It is a strong dram, whether taken straight or slightly diluted. Recommended.
Wonderful stuff. Period. Very sad it's gone.
I've been lucky enough to try the full (recent) Diageo releases of Mortlach over the years, and can confidently state that this absolutely trounces the lot of them. Exceptional sourcing, exceptional selection. Well done, Master.
