Nose: Ground almond, freshly baked brown bread, some meatiness and allspice, sweeter angel cake and dried coconut too, hints of tangerine. Exciting.
Palate: Classic dry and juicy barley character leads into nuttier chestnut and a hint of sweet smoke, even a touch of chocolate late on.
Finish: Barley sugar, sugar almonds, chocolate malt and warming barley wine.
Overall: Extraordinary single malt from the Beast of Dufftown without the Sherry influence you'd usually associated it with.
