A magnificent single cask from Mortlach, bottled up by Gordon & MacPhail for its Connoisseurs Choice collection. This single malt was distilled in 1998 and filled into a single first-fill bourbon barrel for a marvellous 22 years of maturation. Finally, in February 2021, the cask was cracked open, releasing a total outturn of 163 bottles at a bold cask strength of 58.1% ABV.
Roasted nuts and zesty fruit peels, sweet berries, and caramel lead to oak and anise.
Orchard fruits bring sweetness to balance wafts of woody liquorice and peppery spice.
Plenty of citrus zest on the finish, fruit cake spice, jammy fruit, nutty malt, vanilla with plenty of oaken spice.
