This superb Speysider was distilled at Mortlach in 1997 and matured for the next 21 years in a refill hogshead. When we tried it, we couldn't resist bottling some up for our exclusive Master of Malt collection. There are only 50 bottles mind, so blink and you might miss it...

Floral malt and elegant old oak join a smidge of spicy ginger, before rich layers of golden syrup, vanilla, raw honeycomb, and candied fruit.
Soft stone fruits and zingy notes of lemon sherbet cushion rich oaken spice, with bittersweet notes of dark chocolate-coated orange wheels in tow. Rich, runny toffee, earthy roasted nuts, and a touch of cured meat nestle in the depths.
Meaty malt and drying, herbaceous spices linger, with sweet, earthy tea and roasted chestnuts.
