Originally released as a travel retail exclusive, this Mortlach 14 Year Old has been nicknamed Alexander's Way in honour of the distillery's former owner, Alexander Cowie. Thanks to Alexander Cowie, Mortlach distils its spirit 2.81 times, a rather unique process known as ‘The Way’. So, there you have it, Alexander's Way. This expression has been matured for 14 years in refill bourbon and sherry casks, with oodles of creamy notes and jam packed full of spice.
Lemon zest alongside lemon curd, upside down apple cake, cinnamon sponge cake and vanilla cream with a hint of spice.
Loads of spices, with ginger, clove, nutmeg and white pepper, balanced by floral, dry tea, melted white chocolate with peaches and cream, sweet malt and earthy oak.
More warming ginger returns, with grapefruit peel and polished oak.
The most pleasant whiskey I have had the pleasure of drinking
I bought a bottle at Manchester airport at a very reasonable £47.0. A nice dram that I’m thoroughly enjoying. Worth a buy at this price point.
Pleasant in the mouth. I really love the smooth taste of earthy oak, and the spices. The presentation of the bottle is very elegant. Great Job!
Excellent drop. Tasty, long finish, smooth.
I was well surprised by the 14 yr old - the previous range had left me disappointed for what you were paying but this is a big improvement. I definitely picked up the citrus, vanilla palate, but actually thought the spices were in the finish. Very decent pricing at around +€60. Good job Mortlach.
