Mortlach was where William Grant who founded Glenfiddich and Balvenie started his career. To this day it still produces an excellent single malt as can be seen in this fourteen year old bottling from Berry Brothers and Rudd.
Vanilla and aniseed rise out of the glass first followed by woody spice notes. The palate is cinnamon dominated with some vanilla and gooseberries following behind. The finish has a pleasing minerality and some green fruit notes.
